Paws around the Potteries - Back to Ford Green

Ay up, everyone!  It's Hanley Bear here, with another post about my brilliant home town of Stoke-on-Trent and the great places there are around here for small bears to have adventures.
On one of the few very cold days we've had this winter, Polar and Grizzly took us back to the car park near Ford Green Hall for a walk, but this time we went north into the Whitfield Valley Nature Reserve, rather than south to the ponds where the parakeets live.

There's a big lake here too, but that day a lot of it was frozen.
The ducks and coots were all running about on top of it.  I thought they looked funny and that they would fall over or slide about, but with their big feet they seemed to cope very well.
Along with the mallards and coots we see everywhere, we spotted a teal, and a some tufted ducks bobbing about where the water hadn't frozen.  Grizzly likes them: he thinks they are very smart-looking birds and he likes the way they bob up out of the water when they dive down for food.
Although our humans like bird-watching, and so do we, the main reason for our visit was so us bears could get some exercise and do some climbing, so we were on the look-out for good bear trees - and soon we spotted some!

Dudley Bear looks a lot bigger in the first picture than he really is, as he's closer to the camera and I'm further away - he's really only a tiny bit taller than Waverley.
Dudley and Huddlesford hadn't been here before, but they both said it was "bostin", which is another word for "good" where they come from.

It was too cold for the cubs to stay out long, so we were soon back in our bag and on the way home for hot chocolate and biscuits.

Maybe next time we'll visit Ford Green Hall itself, which is one of our brilliant museums and really, really old - even older than Grizzly!
